Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend around 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have gained comprehensive healthcare education with a focus on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are educated to handle complications ranging from regular problems for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which furnish them the experience necessary to conduct surgery on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and help prevent numerous complications which the feet commonly experience.
