Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programmes lie within these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained wide-ranging medical training with an emphasis on concerns involving the ankles and feet. They are educated to address problems ranging from familiar disorders such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more challenging for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical education which supply them the experience necessary to execute surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent many troubles which the feet generally encounter.
