Okotoks Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Okotoks concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They put in around 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are contained within these academic institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received extensive medical training with an attention to on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to address difficulties extending from familiar conditions for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical education which provide them the prior experience essential to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems empowers a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics that can provide pain relief and prevent a large number of complications which the feet routinely encounter.
