Calgary Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Calgary focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest around ten years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received comprehensive healthcare training with an attention to on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to deal with difficulties varying from conventional disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which give them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those concerns that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid countless conditions which the feet generally experience.
