They spend an average of 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and a number of podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive health care education with a focus on complications concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to treat difficulties ranging from regular afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical training which give them the practical experience essential to perform surgery on those conditions that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid many conditions which the feet regularly experience.
