Fort McMurray Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - Thickwood Heights focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest an average of 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles typical medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs lie inside these institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received wide-ranging healthcare instruction with a concentration on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to handle conditions stretching from conventional ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical training which supply them the skill needed to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and defend against countless complications which the feet routinely encounter.
