Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Chestermere specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote approximately ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired significant healthcare training with a concentration on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to manage concerns varying from standard problems for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which provide them the expertise necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of many troubles which the feet frequently experience.
