Calgary Downtown Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Calgary Downtown focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote approximately a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained extensive medical training with an emphasis on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to manage concerns ranging from conventional disorders like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which furnish them the skill crucial to carry out surgery on those concerns that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and avoid many conditions which the feet generally experience.
