Calgary Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Calgary provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and quite a number podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received thorough medical training with a stress on problems involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address difficulties extending from basic conditions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more sophisticated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which provide them the experience needed to conduct surgery on those issues that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against numerous complications which the feet typically encounter.
