Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Calgary Sunpark provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs lie inside these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired encompassing medical education with a stress on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to treat difficulties stretching from standard conditions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more obscure like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical instruction which supply them the practical experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid many conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
