Calgary Downtown Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Calgary Downtown provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest around a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry training programs lie inside these academic institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired thorough medical training with a concentration on complications concerning the feet and ankles. They are taught to treat complications ranging from commonplace disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which supply them the practical experience essential to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of many problems which the feet regularly encounter.
