Sherwood Park Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Sherwood Park specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received significant health care education with an emphasis on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are skilled to care for conditions ranging from general ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which furnish them the experience required to carry out surgery on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and protect against countless problems which the feet generally experience.
