Sherwood Park Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Sherwood Park focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programs are contained within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received comprehensive healthcare training with an emphasis on complications concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to care for complications stretching from standard conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical education which supply them the practical experience required to execute surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of many conditions which the feet typically encounter.
