Our podiatrists spend approximately 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact many podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received extensive medical instruction with an emphasis on issues involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to manage problems extending from regular disorders like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which provide them the experience necessary to carry out surgery on those conditions that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet commonly encounter.
