Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in approximately 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact many podiatry programs lie inside these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired comprehensive healthcare training with a concentration on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. They are taught to care for problems varying from familiar ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical instruction which provide them the skill essential to perform surgery on those conditions that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of many issues which the feet regularly experience.
