Fort Saskatchewan Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Fort Saskatchewan provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest about a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programs lie within these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained wide-ranging medical training with a concentration on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are instructed to treat complications ranging from regular ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical training which provide them the prior experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid many conditions which the feet commonly encounter.
