Edmonton West Oliver Clinic Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Edmonton West Oliver provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually several podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained comprehensive health care training with a focus on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to manage problems stretching from usual disorders for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which give them the experience required to carry out surgery on those troubles that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent numerous troubles which the feet usually experience.
