Fort McMurray - Thickwood Heights Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - Thickwood Heights concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend about a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received comprehensive medical instruction with an attention to on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to handle problems extending from typical problems for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the practical experience crucial to perform surgical treatment on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of countless complications which the feet usually encounter.
