Fort McMurray - Thickwood Heights Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - Thickwood Heights specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in reality numerous podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received substantial medical education with an emphasis on complications regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to manage problems extending from general problems such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical training which supply them the expertise crucial to carry out surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent many troubles which the feet generally encounter.
