Edmonton North Side Clinic (Northgate) Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Edmonton North Side Clinic (Northgate) specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They put in about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have gained thorough health care training with a main focus on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to treat concerns extending from basic problems for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which provide them the experience required to perform surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of many troubles which the feet frequently encounter.
