Lacombe Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Lacombe specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest around ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry training programs lie within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained comprehensive healthcare training with a main focus on complications concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to manage conditions ranging from regular conditions for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which provide them the experience vital to perform surgery on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and help prevent numerous complications which the feet generally encounter.
