Lacombe Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Lacombe provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They devote an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programs are contained inside these academic institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired extensive medical training with an emphasis on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are studied to manage conditions stretching from regular problems for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical instruction which give them the skill essential to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait problems facilitates a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of countless issues which the feet normally experience.
