Calgary Signal Hill Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Calgary Signal Hill specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs lie inside these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired wide-ranging medical education with a concentration on conditions involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat complications extending from basic ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which furnish them the experience crucial to carry out surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent numerous complications which the feet frequently encounter.
