Calgary Signal Hill Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Calgary Signal Hill concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and several podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained encompassing medical training with a main focus on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to manage issues extending from standard ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more obscure like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical instruction which furnish them the experience essential to conduct surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and defend against many conditions which the feet typically encounter.
