Calgary Signal Hill Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Calgary Signal Hill focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programmes lie inside these institutions. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired substantial health care instruction with a main focus on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to deal with difficulties ranging from simple afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical education which provide them the expertise necessary to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatric physician to create footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and prevent numerous issues which the feet commonly encounter.
