Calgary North Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Calgary North specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired considerable health care education with a main focus on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. They are taught to handle issues extending from general disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which give them the experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatric physician to create footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous complications which the feet regularly encounter.
