Calgary North Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Calgary North specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in reality various podiatry programmes lie inside these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received considerable medical education with a main focus on issues concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to address conditions extending from common afflictions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical training which provide them the practical experience vital to conduct surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous conditions which the feet routinely encounter.
