Calgary North Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Calgary North specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest about ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and many podiatry programmes lie inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained substantial healthcare education with an attention to on conditions pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to care for problems extending from typical ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which provide them the prior experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatric doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and protect against numerous troubles which the feet commonly experience.
