Specialists at The Foot Institute – Calgary Sunpark focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest approximately ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs lie inside these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive healthcare instruction with an emphasis on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to treat problems varying from usual ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which furnish them the experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and avoid many complications which the feet generally encounter.
