Medicine Hat Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Medicine Hat focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They spend an average of ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in point of fact quite a number podiatry programs lie within these institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive medical training with a concentration on complications regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to manage issues extending from conventional conditions like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more complicated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical education which provide them the expertise needed to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
