Bonnyville Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Bonnyville specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable medical training with a focus on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to address problems varying from normal disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical education which provide them the prior experience vital to conduct surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of conditions which the feet normally encounter.
