Bonnyville Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Bonnyville concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote an average of ten years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained encompassing health care training with an attention to on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are skilled to deal with problems ranging from standard ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which provide them the practical experience necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid many complications which the feet generally experience.
