Calgary Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Calgary Beddington focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained comprehensive healthcare training with a stress on problems involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are qualified to manage complications stretching from familiar conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more intricate such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which furnish them the practical experience required to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and defend against many complications which the feet normally encounter.
