Calgary Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Calgary Beddington concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend around ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired extensive medical training with an attention to on concerns concerning the feet and ankles. They are qualified to manage problems extending from usual problems such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more challenging for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience required to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of problems which the feet regularly encounter.
