Calgary Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Calgary Beddington concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest around ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and a number of podiatry training programs lie inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received thorough health care training with an emphasis on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are qualified to address difficulties ranging from standard problems for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more perplexing including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which give them the practical experience crucial to execute surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet frequently encounter.
