Calgary Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Calgary Beddington concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained significant medical training with an importance on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to treat issues ranging from familiar disorders like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more challenging for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical education which supply them the experience required to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against countless problems which the feet usually encounter.
