Calgary Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Calgary Beddington specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors put in an average of ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact many podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired encompassing medical training with a main focus on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are studied to address complications ranging from basic conditions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which give them the expertise required to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against a large number of complications which the feet regularly encounter.
