Fort McMurray - River City Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - River City focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received considerable healthcare training with a main focus on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to deal with conditions extending from regular ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which supply them the experience vital to execute surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid a large number of problems which the feet routinely encounter.
