Fort McMurray - River City Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - River City concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote an average of ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in point of fact various podiatry programmes are located within these schools. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained significant medical training with an emphasis on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat difficulties ranging from commonplace afflictions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more challenging for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which give them the experience vital to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of troubles which the feet routinely experience.
