Fort McMurray - River City Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - River City focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are contained within these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received considerable medical education with an importance on complications regarding the feet and ankles. They are trained to handle problems ranging from common disorders like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical instruction which give them the experience crucial to conduct surgical treatment on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of problems which the feet generally experience.
