Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote approximately 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in point of fact various podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive medical education with an importance on difficulties regarding the feet and ankles. They are qualified to handle complications varying from typical problems for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which give them the expertise necessary to carry out surgery on those issues that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities.
