Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually numerous podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained wide-ranging medical education with a concentration on problems involving the ankles and feet. They are educated to address complications stretching from basic problems like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical instruction which give them the experience needed to perform surgery on those issues that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and avoid many troubles which the feet typically encounter.
