Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend around ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in reality a number of podiatry programs lie within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired comprehensive medical education with a main focus on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are studied to manage issues ranging from common ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical training which supply them the skill necessary to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and prevent numerous complications which the feet regularly encounter.
