Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They devote about ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable healthcare instruction with an attention to on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to treat problems ranging from basic disorders like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which supply them the prior experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid countless troubles which the feet regularly experience.
