Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry programs lie within these academic institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received extensive medical instruction with a focus on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. They are trained to handle conditions stretching from normal conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical education which provide them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those conditions that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent numerous troubles which the feet typically encounter.
