Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest about ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and actually several podiatry programmes lie inside these schools. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have acquired considerable medical education with an emphasis on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to address problems ranging from simple disorders for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which supply them the practical experience essential to conduct surgical treatment on those conditions that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against many troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
