Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in point of fact many podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive healthcare education with a concentration on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to treat conditions varying from regular problems for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical education which give them the skill crucial to carry out surgery on those complications that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against numerous issues which the feet regularly encounter.
