Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in point of fact various podiatry programs are contained within these academic institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained extensive health care instruction with a concentration on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to handle conditions ranging from typical conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more intricate including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which supply them the experience crucial to perform surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid many conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
