Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote about a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and actually various podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained significant medical training with an attention to on problems involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to deal with problems varying from usual ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience vital to conduct surgery on those complications that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and defend against many complications which the feet typically experience.
