Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest about 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive medical training with an attention to on issues involving the ankles and feet. They are trained to address complications ranging from basic ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical training which give them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid many troubles which the feet normally experience.
