Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and actually several podiatry training programs are located within these schools. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired comprehensive healthcare instruction with an emphasis on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to treat issues varying from familiar afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which provide them the experience crucial to conduct surgical treatment on those conditions that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and defend against countless problems which the feet frequently experience.
