Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend approximately ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received thorough medical instruction with a focus on difficulties regarding the ankles and feet. They are educated to deal with difficulties extending from regular disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical instruction which give them the experience crucial to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against many troubles which the feet routinely encounter.
