Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors put in approximately a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to regular medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received thorough health care training with an emphasis on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to treat conditions ranging from familiar ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more intricate for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which give them the prior experience required to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against many complications which the feet normally experience.
