Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They put in around 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive medical instruction with a stress on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to treat difficulties stretching from normal afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which furnish them the skill essential to perform surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and prevent a large number of conditions which the feet usually encounter.
