Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They spend around ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes are located within these schools. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received significant health care instruction with a stress on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are trained to manage difficulties ranging from basic problems for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which give them the prior experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those issues that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics that can provide pain relief and protect against numerous troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
