Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote an average of ten years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes lie inside these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired substantial health care education with a focus on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to treat conditions varying from basic problems for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more obscure for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which furnish them the skill necessary to execute surgery on those troubles that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatric doctor to create footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against a large number of issues which the feet usually experience.
