Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote approximately ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and quite a number podiatry programmes are located within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained extensive medical training with a focus on problems concerning the ankles and feet. They are trained to treat concerns extending from standard problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience required to conduct surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid countless troubles which the feet normally encounter.
