Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote about a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and various podiatry training programs lie within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained comprehensive medical training with an attention to on problems involving the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to handle concerns ranging from normal conditions such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more obscure such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which supply them the prior experience required to perform surgery on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against numerous complications which the feet usually experience.
