Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend around ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and actually a number of podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received considerable health care training with a focus on conditions regarding the ankles and feet. They are trained to manage conditions ranging from common problems for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which provide them the experience needed to execute surgery on those troubles that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatric physician to create footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against a large number of troubles which the feet routinely encounter.
