Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in about 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes are located within these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received comprehensive healthcare training with a concentration on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to care for problems extending from commonplace disorders such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical education which provide them the practical experience required to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of conditions which the feet frequently experience.
