Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received thorough medical instruction with a focus on complications regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to treat problems extending from familiar disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can provide pain relief and prevent a large number of conditions which the feet frequently experience.
