Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about a decade in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and as a matter of fact various podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received thorough medical instruction with a focus on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. They are instructed to treat problems stretching from simple afflictions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which provide them the prior experience needed to carry out surgery on those complications that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent countless troubles which the feet typically encounter.
