Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend approximately a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and quite a number podiatry programs lie inside these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired considerable medical training with an attention to on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to manage complications extending from usual conditions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which provide them the experience essential to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and prevent a large number of problems which the feet usually encounter.
