Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors put in an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained significant medical instruction with an attention to on conditions pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are trained to manage issues varying from basic problems like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which give them the experience needed to conduct surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent many issues which the feet normally encounter.
