Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact various podiatry programs are contained within these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing medical training with a concentration on complications involving the feet and ankles. They are educated to manage complications ranging from normal ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical education which furnish them the practical experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid many problems which the feet usually experience.
