Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of a decade in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually several podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired extensive medical training with an emphasis on complications regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to treat concerns varying from familiar ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which supply them the expertise essential to execute surgery on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of many issues which the feet normally encounter.
