Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programmes are contained inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive medical training with a focus on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to care for complications extending from usual ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical training which furnish them the experience required to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of many issues which the feet generally encounter.
